László Hámos New Chairman of HRFA

 

At the 38th Quandrennial Convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America (HRFA) held Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2008 in Ligonier, PA, László Hámos, previously Vice-Chair of HRFA's Board of Directors, was elected Chairman of the Board.  The meeting of delegates, representing 10,000 members from the eleven states having HRFA branches, was dedicated to the memory of Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan, a Director (1968-1980) and President (1980-1992) of the Federation. The Convention voted to modernize and streamline operations by reducing to a nine-member Board of Directors and adopted a new, transparent management structure.

In Memoriam: Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan

  

Memorial Worship for the Rev. Dr. Imre G. Bertalan
 

A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 for the Rev. Dr. Imre G. Bertalan at the Wesley Theological Seminary Chapel. Over a hundred people attended the worship, among them the Rt. Rev. Sandor Szabo, Bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, and the Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Bishop of the Calvin Synod, United Church of Christ and about twenty members of the clergy. Family, members of the congregation of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Washington and friends were also there to remember and pay their respect.
